Spelling Bee Status Update

Thanks a lot to the kids and parents for making the Canyon Creek Spelling Bee event a grand success. 
Congratulations to all the students & parents who participated. 
 
Preksha R. is the Canyon Creek 2022 Spelling Bee Champion.
 
The results are:

Preksha R. from 4th Grade is selected to represent Canyon Creek
at the local area spelling bee based on the performance in the third round testing.
 
Likhit A. P. from 4th Grade will represent Canyon Creek if Preksha opts out for any reason.

 

Spelling Bee Status Update

The Canyon Creek PTA Spelling Bee has proven to be really competitive!
We had FIVE (5) spellers tied with 30 correct out of 30, THREE (3) tied with 29 correct, and FIVE (5) tied with 28 correct! A final test between the five spellers with 100% correct, will result in the naming of the Spelling Bee Winner and Runner Up.

Canyon Creek PTA is thrilled to offer the Scripps Spelling Bee, administered virtually from
Saturday, February 5th to Wednesday, February 9th, 2022

Students, grades 3rd-5th, will be able to take the School Spelling Bee online on any device with a web browser
while at home and the results of the test will determine who advances to the Bee’s next level of competition. 
More details coming soon about the online testing platform.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS

  • Registered students will receive Scripps National Spelling Bee 2021-22 School Spelling Bee Study List in pdf format via the parent email listed in registration. There will NOT be a printed version of the word study pack. Registered students should study the study list in their free time ASAP. Students only need to spell the word. Vocabulary is just to help students understand the word.
  • Registered students will also receive (sent to the parent email listed in registration) the 2022 Great Words, Great Works info: As part of your spelling bee enrollment, you receive access to the Great Words, Great Works reading program, a list of 36 books that the Bee has selected for their rich vocabulary, engaging content and grade-appropriate subject matter.
  • This year, we will NOT be having an in person practice session. Students must study these words at home.
  • The online School Spelling Bee will include some words that appear on the study list, however, spelling bee words are not limited to the study list and students will be presented with words that are not on any study list. Words will be presented in random order. 
  • All words on Scripps Spelling Bee word lists are entries in Merriam-Webster Unabridged, the official dictionary of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
  • The winner of our school will move on to the Regional Spelling Bee of King and Snohomish County. If our Spelling Bee Champion cannot attend the Regional level Spelling Bee, our School Bee runner-up will be asked to attend the Regional Bee. 
  • Regional Spelling Bee of King and Snohomish County
    • Location: Town Hall, Seattle
    • Date & Time: Saturday, March 19th, 2022 at 1pm, Spellers must arrive 1 hour prior to start.
    • Our school winner and runner up will be given a new set of 4000 words to study for the Regional level
