Introductions

The PTA Board members each wanted to share an introduction - we are excited about the coming school year.

Nicole Trimble - President

Hello! 2022-23 will be my 9th year as a Canyon Creek parent (and PTA member). My son will be a 4th grader and my daughter will be in 8th grade next door at Skyview. I very much enjoy volunteering at Canyon Creek and getting to know the teachers, staff and classmates of my kids - and getting to know all the other amazing volunteers and families in our community.

I have served Canyon Creek PTA, mostly in communications, since fall of 2016. I have been Website Editor, Newsletter Editor, VP-Communications (2018-19 & 2019-20), Glow Dance Chair, Summer Fun Playdate Chair, and I definitely enjoy helping where I am needed. I love the community that PTA helps build at Canyon Creek and hope that we can reach more families and develop an even stronger community!

Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, I worked in Technology Project Management in online retail and before that I was a programmer. I have lived in the Seattle area most of my life and in Bothell since 2010.

I am excited for next year and truly hope we can have more in-person events!

Suzanne Subbarao - Vice President: Programs

Hi! My name is Suzanne Subbarao, and my family has lived in Bothell for four years.

I grew up in Indiana, and met my husband at Purdue University. We have two sons. My older son is in 6th grade at Canyon Park Middle School. This is my younger son's first year at Canyon Creek. He is in second grade.

I love being outdoors, gardening, crafting, and reading. As a family, we love spending time together by camping, playing games, and traveling.

I believe that a school community is very important to our children's well being and I'm looking forward to helping out!

Liv Gorman - Vice President: Communication

Hello! I’m Liv Gorman, and I have a 2nd grade coyote learning at Canyon Creek.  My husband and I both hail from Minneapolis, MN and we attended college in Wisconsin.  After a blissful and sun-kissed 5-year stint in San Diego, CA, we decided to move to Bothell last December.  We haven’t looked back since!

My hubby loves his job at The Herb Farm in Woodinville. (It’s very fancy and they serve tiny bits of food in small bowls).  I work with a boutique marketing firm based out of California.  Working from home allows me to be more involved in my children’s lives and keep the house clean, (sort of)?

We Gormans can’t get enough of the PNW and all its mossy splendor.  When my family and I aren't hiking or examining animal tracks, I tend to be cooking, gardening and flexing my creative muscle via paint and textiles.

I am so honored to be the new VP of Communications for this year’s PTA.  My mother is a professor, my grandfather was a principal; the importance of a positive school environment runs strong in my family.

I believe educators and students are not nearly as supported as they should be.  I can’t wait to collaborate with the amazing Canyon Creek clan and make a difference.

Hope to say ‘hi’ to you soon!

Jake Tadema (Secretary)

My name is Jake Tadema and my family has lived in Bothell for 4 years. My son Jaxson will be a 4th grader at Canyon Creek this coming fall, and my daughters Emily and Allie will be in 7th and 8th grade at Skyview. When we were looking to move from Lynnwood our main goals were to find great schools and even more importantly an amazing community, and so far we have been so blessed to be a part of Canyon Creek and Skyview!

My wife Jen and I have been together for more than 22 years, and she will be serving as the 2022-2023 Skyview PTA Secretary. I work in IT at Expedia Group, where I have been employed and mostly working from home for the last 6 years.

In addition to coaching t-ball, soccer, flag football, and wrestling, I am also an active WatchDOG so I have already met many of the students at Canyon Creek. I have previously served as a PTA Treasurer (Lake Stickney), and for the 2022-2023 school year I am serving as Canyon Creek PTA Secretary and Skyview Middle School PTA President. I am also involved with my church, where I am a Youth Group and Small Group leader.

I love being involved and helping as much as I can with my kids, as I believe it's really important for youth to have a positive male role model active in their lives. I am really hoping to encourage other dad's and male caregivers to get involved with the school and PTA this year.

In my free time I enjoy traveling with my family, playing golf with friends, and spending time outdoors.

I am excited to join this board and help out as much as I can, and I look forward to meeting everyone!

Tricia Black (Treasurer)

My name is Tricia Black, and I am new to Canyon Creek. We moved to Bothell last summer, and my daughter is starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2022. My husband and I also have three rambunctious golden retrievers, who will be joining us on rotation to the walks to school for pick up and drop off.

I am originally from North Carolina but have also lived in Georgia and California before relocating to Washington in 2010. We lived Kirkland for several years prior to making Bothell our home. I have worked in the Accounting and Finance fields for over 12 years, as well as served as Treasurer of our HOA board in Kirkland. I am excited to bring that experience to assist my Canyon Creek community as Treasurer for the 2022-2023 school year.

My hobbies are mostly arts and crafts, reading and baking. For a while I entertained the idea of opening a bakery, and I have also freelanced with advanced copy book reviews and editing. I am a huge lover of Disney and sing-alongs are a daily occurrence in our house. I am always looking for suggestions for new restaurants to try and will gladly give recommendations to others if they are curious. I enjoy being plugged into my community and encourage others to do the same.

Michelle Lee - Membership: Campaigns & Events

Hi! My name is Michelle Lee. My family and I moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio about 4 years ago and this is our 2nd year at Canyon Creek. My eldest daughter is a 6th grader at Canyon Park Middle School and my youngest daughter is a 3rd grader this year at Canyon Creek.

This is my first year as part of the Canyon Creek PTA although I have served the PTA at other NSD elementary schools for the past 3 years in various different roles. Membership an important way for PTA to having voting power to advocate for kids so I'm trying it for the first time this year!

I like photography, baking (and eating), and creating posts for social media (I’m also the CC PTA Social Admin)! I am looking forward to meeting everyone!

Erika Del Villar (Advocacy)

Hello! My name is Erika Del Villar and I am thrilled to join the PTA and serve as this year’s Advocacy Chair. I have two daughters – a 2nd grader at Canyon Creek, and another who is in 8th grade at Skyview. Our family is new to Bothell and so far, we are loving the open and welcoming community.

My husband and I were born and raised in the Philippines and remain deeply connected to our roots. We look forward – as a family –  to sharing and celebrating our wonderful heritage with you all! Aside from enjoying pancit, lumpia, and halo-halo from various Filipino restaurants in Seattle, we enjoy biking through trails, playing (and watching) golf, singing, watching Marvel movies, and traveling together.

A little about my background: I am a political scientist and sociologist by training, and have worked in the areas of human rights, international politics, global security, and equity issues both in the international development field and in academia over the years. Currently, I work on strategy and competency development around diversity, equity, and inclusion in a higher education institution.

I am excited and honored to advocate for our children – and their success and wellness – at Canyon Creek. I have always believed in our collective power as citizens to be involved in issues that affect us, our children, and our families; and I look forward to being able to do that for and with all of you!
