Our PTA coordinates a group of volunteers who assist the librarians at Canyon Creek.

The goal is for EVERY class at the school to have a Library Volunteer EVERY week, which allows the librarians to spend more time with the children, reading to the class, helping each child to pick out just the right book for them, or helping them with the computers (older grades). 

The Library Volunteers will:

• Check out books to students using our computer circulation system
• Check in returned books
• Reshelve books according to library call number (requires knowledge of ABC order as well as number order that includes decimal points)
• Assist students in finding books using our library catalog (training will be provided)

Tidying books on shelves and "shelf reading" (systematically checking that books are in shelf order) will be side jobs during times volunteers are not assisting students.
