Youth Mental Health First Aid is an internationally recognized skills-based training that teaches adults (age 18 and up) how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health challenges and substance-use challenges in youth. The interactive training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 6-18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.
There are two types of zoom classes available - focus on youth or adult.
The Youth Mental Health First Aid 5.5 hours class is best for parents, family members, caregivers, school staff, and people who are working with youth and want to learn how to help youth who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.
What skills will you get from this training?
Please note: You need to complete a 2-hour long pre-work prior to the zoom class. The pre-work includes a great slide presentation and videos.
These are the locally hosted opportunities that we have found. There are variations of class schedules - some are "1 Day" (one 5.5 hour session) and some are "2 Day" (two 3 hours sessions).
