We had such a fabulous turn out at our March General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, March 22nd. The meeting was conducted over Zoom. It was great having so many families able to join us. Please take a moment to review what happened at our meeting.
Guest Speaker: HiCap/EAP Presentation
Northshore School District’s Director for Accelerated Models and Programs, Amity Butler, presented information about the various services offered within the Northshore School District with an emphasis on EAP and HiCap Services. Her presentation was very informative and many questions were asked from the audience.
Principal Report
Our Canyon Creek Principal, Mr. Denton shared a rendering of the new playground equipment which will be integrated with the existing playground. Installation is planned for over the summer. Money raised from the Fall APEX fundraiser will be used to fund this project.
Mr. Denton also shared more about the Rangoli Project and Column Art happening at Canyon Creek. Interested volunteers will begin painting the art work at the school in May when the weather is warmer and there is less humidity.
Staff Grants
Membership voted to offer Canyon Creek Staff individual grants of up to $75 per staff member. Grants can be used to support innovative curriculum, ideas, and programs that align with the mission and goals of Canyon Creek PTA. More information will be sent to staff members soon!
Membership
To date, we have a total of 325 members. We have surpassed this year’s goal of 300 members and earned the WSPTA 100% Staff Participation Award and Platinum Growth Award. Thank you to all of our members for supporting PTA!
Art Docent
There are still a few classes needing an Art Docent volunteer this year. Please reach out to the Art Docent Chairs at art@canyoncreekpta.org if you can help provide art to a classroom. The goal is every student has an opportunity to make art this year.
Advocacy Report
Registration is open for WSPTACon2022, WSPTA’s 109th Annual Convention and Conference. This year it will return in person with the option to attend remotely, scheduled for May 20th-22nd. All PTA leadership and members are invited to attend. Visit WSPTA website to learn more.
The Northshore Schools Foundation All in For Kids Fundraiser is being held on March 31, 2022. This fundraiser has served as the primary means to fund all grants given to Northshore schools to support our students. There are virtual and in person options to attend.
Staff Appreciation
The March Staff Appreciation Lunch was a huge success. 106 staff members received lunch from generous members of our school community. In addition to lunches, we also received monetary donations. The funds not used for the March event will be used to honor our Canyon Creek staff during Staff Appreciation Week in May. Our Staff Appreciation team has been working on some wonderful ideas including a catered lunch on one of the days. Thank you to everyone who helped to honor our hardworking staff.
Next Meeting
Please join us for our last meeting of the 2021-2022 school year on Tuesday, May 24th at 6:30pm. We will be electing our new 2022 - 2023 PTA Executive Board and honoring some special individuals with Outstanding Acorn and Outstanding Educator Awards. Please register for Zoom link.
