Free Summer Meals for Children 18 and Younger

There are a number of food programs in the Northshore area to support families during the summer months.

  • King County Library System is will have Summer Meals at the Library at 12 locations across King County. The meals are free for all children and teens ages birth to 18. There are no restrictions on family income and no registration is required. Come for lunch, then hang out to read and learn.

  • Free summer lunches for children 18 years and under will be provided by the Northshore YMCA, July 6 - Aug. 31, Monday thru Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., at Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Ave. N.E., Kenmore, and First Lutheran Church, 10207 NE 183rd St., Bothell.   • The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, United Way of King County and WithinReach are sponsoring free summer meals for kids ages 18 and under at selected schools, parks, community centers and more. Find a site by calling 1-888-436-6392  or at ParentHelp123.org.
  • The USDA provides a number of resources, in both English and Spanish, to raise awareness in your community. 
    • USDA Summer Meals Hotline at 1-866-348-6479. Families will receive assistance to find the location, meal times, and contact information for summer meals based on their full address, city, and/or zip code.
    • USDA Summer meals finder at www.fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks. This website is easy for families to use as they can access summer meals locations by entering their zip code.
  • Text "food" or "comida" to 877-877 and you will receive a prompt to reply with your address or zip code. The service then pulls active summer-meal sites from a U.S. Department of Agriculture database and sends you a list of nearby locations. (download flyer
