Canyon Creek PTA Reminders:

Changes for the New School Year!

As of July 1st, we are officially in a new school year for PTA! We are so excited with the success of this program and how many of our school community have found it useful in our first year offering reminders.

We wanted to share with you a couple things about Reminders including:

  • changes in how we are managing our Remind classes due to a change in cost of using Remind for larger groups
  • how to UNSUBSCRIBE if you are no longer interested in Canyon Creek PTA Reminders

Remind "Class" Changes

Our current Reminder service provider (Remind) is changing their FREE plan to have class size limits. We are bigger than they will allow FREE classes to be. To continue as we are currently setup, we would be charged $4 per subscriber per year - which would be over $1000 a year and definitely not in the budget for our non-profit!! So we are spreading our current subscribers across a few "classes" to allow us to provide this service without any cost to our PTA. This solution was suggested by a customer service representative at Remind. We may decide to change Reminder services providers if we outgrow the "multi-class" approach, but we believe this is still the best option for us right now. 

** These changes were completed on Monday, July 15th. **

If you are a current Reminder subscriber, you will receive 2 messages:

  • a Remind message informing you that you were added to another class with the new class name listed: "CC PTA Reminders (A)", "CC PTA Reminders (B)", etc.
  • followed by another Remind message that you have been removed from the "CC PTA Reminders" class.

If you get these messages, you don't need to do ANYTHING - you are still setup to get reminders. Everything should work exactly the same in the new reminder classes. The change is more on the administrative side, we will be sending the same message to multiple groups - but is relatively simple to do!!

 

Unsubscribe from Reminders

There are bound to be some subscribers with students who are moving on to middle school, or are changing schools, or just don't want Canyon Creek PTA reminders any more. Here are instructions from the Remind website for how to unsubscribe.

Texts:

Leave a specific class (but stay in other classes)

  • In the remind text chain, text @LEAVE @"class code" 
    • for example: @LEAVE @CCPTAINFO

Leave ALL classes on Remind (this will stop ALL Remind texts - not just Canyon Creek PTA ones!)

  • In the remind text chain, text @STOPALL
iOS app:

Leave a specific class

  • Once you are in the class, tap the the class name on top. In Class settings, tap the red "Leave this class" button at the bottom of that screen.
Android app:

Leave a specific class

  • Tap the 3 dots in upper right once you are in the class and then tap Class settings. Lastly, tap the red "Leave this class" button at the bottom of that screen.
Emails:

Opt out of all Remind emails

  • Click the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email. 
Web:

Leave a specific class 

  • Click on the name of the class you want to leave. Click the gear icon in the upper right then "Leave this class" on Class settings.
