Heading to Olympia on Monday, January 20th?

Here is some information about planning your trip and things you should know when you get there!!

Planning

Determine your legislator:
  • Find your legislative district use the district finder, click on each member to find their contact info.

  • Or use the Legislator Look-up list for their complete contact info with legislative aid info, all in one place.

 

Plan ahead for a productive day:
  • Find information about the FREE Northshore Council PTSA bus to Focus Day!!
  • Schedule legislator meetings – invite parents/guardians from your school and other schools in your legislative district.
  • Post meeting info – Legislator, district #, time and Organizer Name, PTA and contact info , using this SCPTSA Advocacy google group and FACEBOOK FOCUS DAY EVENT INVITE
  • Use the FACEBOOK FOCUS DAY EVENT INVITE  to help  spread the word and invite your members to attend.
    • Post the event  to  your PTA Facebook page and indicate your attendance status
    • Post your legislator meetings in comments to help coordinate Legislator meetings and carpools.

 

Focus Day

  • Wear your PTA Blue
  • Timing of Focus Day: 9am - 2pm OR the time that works for your legislative appointment. No speeches, no rally, focus on legislator meetings
  • Meet the WSPTA Legislative Committee at  the Pritchard Cafeteria behind the JAC and O’Brien (Senate & House buildings) from 9am -2pm for handouts. Members of the WSPTA Legislative Committee will greet you and provide our 2018 Legislative Priorities handoutFocus Day Postcards, and campus maps to help make your day successful.
  • Bring written postcards from your members/friends/community, handouts from WSPTA advocacy page, a copy of the FIX THE BILL RESOLUTION or what’s important to you. See below for more info on talking points
