Dear Canyon Creek Parents, Teachers, and Students!                                                                                 August 2021

I am Karen Mitchell Smith, the president of Canyon Creek PTA. I am delighted and honored by the trust shown in me by the PTA and look forward to serving you and the students at Canyon Creek. The previous school year was full of challenges we never anticipated. Despite the pandemic, we were able to provide many services to the children and community, including Parent Education, Reflections, Fall Food Drive, Staff Appreciation, Popcorn Events, Art Docent, Spelling Bee, S.T.E.M. Night, and Math Challenge.

Going into the new school year, there are still many uncertainties that we are facing. Sometimes the prospect may seem daunting. Regardless, and perhaps more so, there is a need for support that must be filled. The students at Canyon Creek need friends and advocates more than ever.  By joining the PTA, you join an organization that is committed to providing our students with the support they need to meet their fullest potential. The goals of the PTA are:

• To engage and embrace diversity and work to develop stronger ties with the outside community through targeted community outreach programs.
• To provide educational enrichment opportunities and support innovative ideas to benefit students.
• To build community through a variety of free and low-cost events and programs.
• To cultivate PTA membership in order to develop a stronger organization for the improvement of our school through its teachers, staff, and family communities.

Every day, our PTA focuses on ways to help further children’s education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety. We are committed advocates for our children and united we can create a great learning environment, whatever form that will take. With every action we receive, we support our mission to serve our school and community by promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

I am eager to hear all ideas you bring. The PTA will be here to support you and the students throughout the year. Every helping hand is welcome as we prepare for the new challenges this school year will bring.

This year, we have maintained the reduced membership fee of only $10. Anyone can join (parents, students, grandparents, friends, etc. and you can still purchase a membership for a staff member or another Canyon Creek parent).
