At our PTA General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, January 18th, our PTA Membership elected our Nominating Committee! Thanks for our three volunteer Nominating Committee members: Barby Taheri, Nancy Tangen & Patty Buchanan!
Barby Taheri has been volunteering at CC since 2014, it’s been a few years! She's held a number of board positions, as well as led and helped with multiple committees throughout the years! She likes doing a little of everything and enjoys helping out where there is a need! She's been on the board at Skyview MS for a number of years and is currently the president at Ruby Bridges Elementary! She has a student at Skyview in 8th grade as well as a 5th grader and kindergartener here at CC!! Being a part of the CC family is really rewarding and fun! Consider taking on a role, we’re here to help and mentor!!
Nancy Tangen has been a part of the Canyon Creek community for six years. She chairs Membership and Popcorn Friday, updates the Reader Board, and works in the classroom as an Art Docent. In the past she chaired Staff Appreciation. Nancy is also the VP of Communications at Skyview. She has a 4th grader at Canyon Creek and a 6th grader at Skyview.
Patty Buchanan has been a part of the Canyon Creek community for 6 years. She was the Science Chair several years ago and ran our Kindergarten Summer Playdates a few years ago. She has a 4th and 2nd grader at Canyon Creek and a 7th grader at Skyview.
What: The elected positions of our PTA (President, Vice President: Programs, Vice President: Communications, Secretary and Treasurer) are up for reelection each year. The nominating committee plays a very important role in the success and longevity of our PTA. It is their job to recruit qualified and dedicated volunteers to fill the next year's elected positions of our PTA. Find descriptions of each elected role.
Who: The committee consists of three (3) volunteers who have been a member of our PTA for at least 15 days prior to their election as part of the Nominating Committee. As a member of the committee, they are NOT required to run for an elected position, but they can if they want! No experience is necessary. All information on how to accomplish the task will be provided - including a detailed and easy to follow handbook from WSPTA.
