We had our first PTA General Membership meeting last Tuesday and were pleased to see some new faces join us and ask lots of questions! We also enjoyed a nice social time before our meeting to chat with new and returning members.

Here are just a few highlights from the meeting:

• PTA Treasurer Changes: We have a new Canyon Creek PTA Treasurer! Barby Taheri resigned as Treasurer to be able to focus on being President of Skyview Middle School's PTSA. We are lucky enough to have a new parent, Mumtaz Zimbalist, as our new 2019-20 PTA Treasurer. Thanks to both Barby and Mumtaz for the work to transition this position smoothly!
• Mission Statement Changed: We updated our Mission Statement to be short and to the point! New Mission: We serve our school and community by supporting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Membership Update:
• Membership Goals: 500 members  and 100% Staff Membership
• Current Numbers: 374 members total 
• Staff: 73 staff members have joined as of today.  We only need 3 more staff members to join for 100%. 
• Gifts of Membership/Scholarships 
• PARENTS: 20 Gifts of Membership Available!! Please spread the word. We don't want cost to be a barrier to obtaining membership. A person can request a membership scholarship by contacting me or by completing the membership form and checking the box.
• TEACHERS: Thanks to generous PTA families we have given 29 memberships to staff. We have 26 unused, that will carry over to next year if not used this year.
• Membership Cards - Your membership cards have been emailed last week.
• Our first Fall Membership Incentive Drawing was held- for the Reserved Parking Space at PTA events! The winner is Allison Carter - Kindergarten Parent – Ms. Hart’s class. Congratulations to our winner!! 
• There are MANY more interesting tidbits - you can review them in our meeting minutes after they are approved at the November 12th meeting. 

We hope you will consider joining us for our next PTA General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 12th! We will again have a "social time" before the meeting, from 6-6:30pm, with little treats and opportunity to chat with other parents. These meetings are an opportunity to hear about all the programs and events coming up, maybe learn about things you didn't know we do, etc!!
