Calling all 2019-20 INCOMING kindergarteners & families!!

UPDATED 8/12/2019: The final playdate will remain at Stipek Park, at 1:30pm on Tuesday, August 20th. 
We checked if we could host it at the school, but the district did not want any events there at all. Hope to see you at the last playdate! AND at the Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, August 28th (more info). 

Canyon Creek PTA would like to welcome your family to our school community! Our mission (displayed at the top of the website) is to help provide an environment of community, learning and fun - through after school enrichment programs, bringing art to every classroom through are Art Docent program, fun evening events and more!

One specific program that is aimed directly at incoming kindergarteners and their families is our Summer Fun Kindergarten Playdates! We arrange a number of play dates over the summer intended to get new kindergarteners to meet each other, play together and hopefully make friends before school starts - making those first weeks of school easier!! Also, for parents to meet other incoming kindergarten parents and maybe exchange info and have their own playdates - and get to know other families that will be at Canyon Creek!! We will have a few "expert" parents at the events to help answer questions about the basics of how things work, etc. 

Schedule

Here is our schedule for the Summer Fun Playdates:

• Wednesday, July 10th, 10:30am-noon @ Stipek Park
• Saturday, July 27th, 1:30-3:00pm @ Stipek Park
• Tuesday, August 6th, 4:30-6:00pm @ Stipek Park
• Tuesday, August 20th, 1:30-3:00pm @ Stipek Park

Stipek Park is a public park in Bothell, located at 1800 242nd St SE, Bothell, WA 98021. There is street parking available on 19th Avenue SE and 242nd Street SE. This park has a playground, swings, restrooms, basketball court, and a grass field - with walking paths.

More Details

• Our Kindergarten Playdate host, Patty Buchanan, will be there with her kids (including her incoming kindergartener) - and she will be wearing her Canyon Creek PTA shirt, so she is easy to spot. We hope to have a couple additional experienced Canyon Creek parents in attendance to help answer questions and welcome you!
• Look for our "Canyon Creek PTA Welcomes You" sandwich board & table, ideally setup in the tree-shaded area near the playground. We will have a sign-in sheet, along with other information you might find useful. 
• Please fill out and wear name stickers (provided at our table) to identify yourselves (adults & kids) as part of our group. We are hoping to encourage the kindergarteners to get to know names of others - and ideally make friends so when school starts, they know some kiddos! And it's always nice to meet fellow Canyon Creek parents too!
• Bring questions - any you have - about PTA, school, logistics, etc. We may not have all the answers, but we will try our best - or direct you to the place to get the answers!

Stay Informed

To stay informed about the summer activities (changes due to weather, etc), we encourage you to get signed up for our Summer Fun Playdate Facebook group and the Summer Playdate reminders. They both will provide updates, but have their own advantages.

• Join our Summer Playdates FB Group ** BEST METHOD FOR INFO ABOUT SUMMER PLAYDATES **
• This is a place for kindergarten families to ask questions, find out when the play dates are, learn if there are cancellations of the play dates due to weather (heavy rain, air quality, etc).
• This is a private group that includes prior new families as well as several experienced PTA leaders who can share information, answer questions, etc - to help you get familiar with our school, PTA and how things work! It's all about welcoming new families and helping answer questions!!!
• Sign up for our Summer Playdate reminders. ** GREAT for day before and day of event reminders!! **

• Simply text @ccptaplay to the number 81010.

• These can be EMAIL or TEXT reminders (depends if you provide an email and/or phone - and you can always edit your account to update).
• You can update your account settings on www.remind.com! Set it up to get texts and/or emails -- or you can download the app to your phone and get push notifications (just search for REMIND in your app store). 

Another idea is to sign up for our weekly PTA newsletter, the Coyote Howler.

• This will give you a glimpse of what kinds of things might be going on next year for your family, as part of our school community! Sent out weekly on Sunday afternoons at 4pm. Make sure you check "Weekly Howler Newsletter".
